Showing Character (Post #3)

CM Punk is a proffessional wrestler formerly signed to WWE and is my personal favorite wrestler. He is an amazingly skilled athelete but is an unbelievable talker. Pro wrestling is scripted. Matches are scripted and people are usually told what to say. Usually. CM Punk was under alot of heat because he would do his own thing and say whatever he thought was best. His contract was coming to an end with the company and he was going to go out with a loss to then WWE Champion John Cena at a Pay-Per-View event. He was unhappy with his position and chose not to sign before the date of the expiration. The WWE knew Punk always wanted to say whatever he wanted so on June 27th, 2011 they let him air his grievances.

CM Punk took shots at anyone who had crossed him over his six year career and broke the 4th wall. He shared inside information that people were not supposed to hear and to prevent the Punk from saying anymore, they cut off his mic. Punk made such a splash with this that he became the new hot topic in pro wrestking around the world. He was getting calls from ESPN, Sports Illustrated, New Japan Pro, everybody wanted to talk to him now. The internet exploded and the outcome of the match that was held in Chicago three weeks later had to be rewritten or a riot may have very well started. Punk ended up signing a contract extension at 11:57 p.m. on the day his original contract expired. Punk won that match and this "Pipebomb" rewrote wrestling history and is one of the best promos of wrestling history. This promo revealed everything Punk stood for. He is an individual who is unlike any other. He's opinionated and knows his place. He wears the "X" on his hand to symbolize his belief in the Straight Edge Movement and only talks high of himself because he knows it's true.

  1. Wow I found this post really interesting. I like how you didn't do the post on a character in a movie, but something different. I'm not really big on wrestling but when I was watching your clip I didn't want to stop. I think it's really funny that they turned off his mic because he was really about to go off. Good job!
